Shoemark, and Moments Of Joy (USA), ridden by R.L. Moore where it appeared these horses came close together. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. W.J. Lee stated that as the other horses went by his filly she got tired and he kept a straight line. J.A. Powell stated that his filly had her ears pricked and went a little right in the straight. K. Shoemark stated that his filly hit a flat spot and received pressure but he never had to stop riding. R.L. Moore stated that Snapretend shifted out slightly but it didn't affect him. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards did not apportion blame to any rider and took no further action.

The Raceday Stewards interviewed J.A. Powell, rider of Snapretend, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip regulation. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards found the rider in breach of Regulation 10.3.(g) (frequency) and having taken his clean record into account suspended him for two race days. In arriving at the penalty the Raceday Stewards took into account that the single strike down the shoulder was for corrective measures.
